Easter Treats & Baskets

Here we go!

Completed birds nests

Of course we had to lick the spoons when finished and of course we got stuff on our face!

Our finished Easter treat...delicious!

Easter basket

Yesterday Jack and I had a great time making Easter treats and putting together some Easter baskets for his cousins.  The treats I found on Pinterest, you can find the recipe here.  And we decided that since Jack loves to play in the garden and watch the birds outside that we would incooporate that into creating our Easter baskets.  Here is a list of what we put in the baskets:  Cedar birdhouse with bird seed, gardening gloves, a spade, pansy plants, lettuce plants, and we couldn't forget the peas (those are Jacks favorite!), a windup bunny, a bug viewer (Jack has been enjoying catching bugs lately), and of course we will be adding some plastic eggs with goodies and our bird nests we made!  What kind of Easter baskets have you done?

April showers and all that

April showers bring May flowers as the saying goes. Our own April showers let up today and we got about a 1/2 day of sunshine. What do you do with half a day of sun you might ask... plant flowers that's what! Today Jack and I went down to a local nursery and picked out some plants for my hanging baskets. Jacks favorite part was the little red wagon he got to ride in as we went up and down the aisles picking out just the perfect combination. Geraniums, Starbursts, some deliciously smelling white flower, little Tunis, and some other things, not to mention our fuchsia's. I spent the afternoon getting my baskets planted and we were able to get in just as the clouds rolled in. Here are some pictures of our flowers!

Justin also got us a bunch of Arborvitae to give us some privacy and we are in the process of getting these all planted as well!

Spring is definitely in the air everything is budding!

Lots of people were taking advantage of the sunshine to mow their lawns and the smell of freshly mowed grass wafted to me as I went about my day bringing with it memories of my childhood. We used to play tag as my dad would mow the lawn, but you had to stay in the lines of where he had mowed or you were out. I love how scents can evoke such vivid memories don't you! Well enough reminiscing for today, hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday!

Bringing the sunshine in

Happy Monday all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours here was quite rainy and wet. In fact yesterday afternoon we had a mini monsoon, which we enjoyed from the safety of the couch in the living room, while sheets of rain flew off our shop roof. Unlike the rest of the weekend Friday was quite nice and Jack helped me pick flowers from our yard to bring inside.
I just love that daffodils will come up year after year! And the purple flower is from my heather plant. That plant has been loving our super wet weather this winter, I've never seen the flowers so bright and vibrant!
Any fun plans this week? We are heading off to swimming, this is our 4th session and Jack is doing great. Have a great week and I'll meet ya back here soon!

Beckoning Spring

I love fresh flowers. There is just something about them that brightens a room and brings nature to you in a presonal way. With spring just around the corner the options are getting even better! Here are some awesome ideas for decorating with flowers and plants that I just couldn't resist sharing. I wish I was brave enough to have an all white room, but with Jack and Justin that just isn't in the cards!

Don't you just love the bucket on the stairs?! I'm so excited to start a flower garden this year and have fresh flowers all summer long!
